Shallow Water
03:47
|

Walking backwards as a method to rewind time
I can't replace all these old friends of mine
Primed defenses holding back the weight as we show our best
I want to see all of your ugliness
Hedonistic in this interlude history repeats
A short reprieve from safety in our schemes
Why did I leave for shallow water, I can't believe
I pissed away so many years saying life's okay
Nobody new knows me like all of these people do back east
Something eerie in my sister's room where I stay for now
Maybe it's me, the selfhood I haven't found
Viscious cycles keep me by myself wanting someone else to ease my pain
Think that I can do the same
Why did I leave for shallow water, I can't believe
I pissed away so many years saying life's okay
Nobody new knows me like all of these people do back east
Back east

Goodwill

I went to the goodwill and left all the clothes that I don't ever wear
I came home and parked my car I saw someone and I had to stare
A girl in yoga pants dancing with headphones like no one was there
I wanted to say something but I took it as a moment of prayer
The past weighs me down
You saw me and I felt free
I don’t have you around
But you helped me find my body
Sometimes I feel sorry for all the coyotes that wander the streets
Displaced from their nature they scavenge our yards 'cause they still have to eat
But then comes the nightfall and they all start howling for others to meet
I guess there's a form of connection everyone can have something sweet
The past weighs me down
You saw me and I felt free
I don’t have you around
But you helped me find my body
Inside of a lighthouse I'm building model of my neighborhood
The mailman comes by for deliveries, I explain but I'm not understood
He says what's the point of all this, you're insane and it's not very good
But I think there's a reason I'm searching for meaning in things made of wood
The past weighs me down
You saw me and I felt free
I don’t have you around
But you helped me find my body

Water

Soaking, why do I want it to be so steeped
I’m unable to be like another raincoat
Let it run over my shoulders
I’m getting older
There’ll be no breath left to keep when I’m down here so deep
Lately I’ve been taking all the time I need
to understand the nature of a man I meet
when I’m in the shower
And I’ve allowed him
To be afraid underneath the water
It leaks
I’m not a stone
Just a loose cork
In the ebbs I’ll float on
I can’t hold back this water
It slips through my fingers
The flow never lingers
I’m lost to the river of time
As I try to grab it
The waves keep on crashing
To say it’ll never be mine
I want to be a giver
The taste still delivers
I’m safe in a bottle of wine
It slips through my fingers
The flow never lingers
I’m lost to the river of time
And it’ll never be mine
In a bottle of wine
In the river of time
It’ll never be mine
Glassy fingers aren't made for miming
I am really human
Yes please, take me for a ride down stream

Bliss

My parafin copilot
Dripping navigator
Light the way through the darkened room
Flame like the sun that will be here soon
For now I wait in hary disposition
Working my fingers like gloves on a mission
Sci-fi static permiates my imaginiation
Invisible wormholes to foil these endless loops
What seem like a detour is a shortcut
We jump through theses hoops
Into another possible truth
If you're feeling like a broken record you can always talk to me (talk to me)
Everything is spiraling out of control, it's not a shock to me (shock to me)
If you're feeling like failure it's a failure of philosophy (losophy)
If you feel like your world is ending to then could it possibly (possibly) not be
(not be, not be)
Possibly
(not be, not be)
Possibly
(not be, not be)
Possibly
(not be, not be)
If you feel like your world is ending to then could it possibly (possibly) not be
(not be, not be)
Possibly
(not be)
Not be
Polarized wind blowing back and fourth
Irrigating our ears with wistles
The frame around this green day is blissful
Galactic vomit governs my delirious state
Yellow-eyed, trading strain for weight
Wrestling with the apes
If you're feeling like a broken record you can always talk to me (talk to me)
Everything is spiraling out of control, it's not a shock to me (shock to me)

Not be
Dizzying cracks in the lense
Overhandled by sweaty hands
Smudges give way to a swelting vision of sand
There is no need to return
To that old mechanical burn
Captured in your shorts there's no lessons there to be learned
If you're feeling like a broken record you can always talk to me (talk to me)
Everything is spiraling out of control, it's not a shock to me (shock to me)
If you're feeling like failure it's a failure of philosophy (losophy)
