I went to the goodwill and left all the clothes that I don't ever wear
I came home and parked my car I saw someone and I had to stare
A girl in yoga pants dancing with headphones like no one was there
I wanted to say something but I took it as a moment of prayer
The past weighs me down
You saw me and I felt free
I don’t have you around
But you helped me find my body
Sometimes I feel sorry for all the coyotes that wander the streets
Displaced from their nature they scavenge our yards 'cause they still have to eat
But then comes the nightfall and they all start howling for others to meet
I guess there's a form of connection everyone can have something sweet
The past weighs me down
You saw me and I felt free
I don’t have you around
But you helped me find my body
Inside of a lighthouse I'm building model of my neighborhood
The mailman comes by for deliveries, I explain but I'm not understood
He says what's the point of all this, you're insane and it's not very good
But I think there's a reason I'm searching for meaning in things made of wood
The past weighs me down
You saw me and I felt free
I don’t have you around
But you helped me find my body
Why do I love this album? I really think Genevieve Artadi is an under-appreciated genius of a songwriter. Also, the painstaking layering of the vocals is truly impressive. And the performances of the other musicians are amazing, too. I guess I love everything about this album, pretty much. (Other than maybe it makes me feel bad as a musician.) danwebbhoward
Following the works of Pedro Martins brought me here and to quite the overwhelm. The musicianship on this alongside Artadi's dream world of art pop songwriting, vocals, and key arrangements is truly magical and euphoric, from the most uplifting moments like on Visionary to the valleys of 'Change Stays'. Truly an AOTY of 2023 and a beautiful record. Infernal_Flowers
