Walking backwards as a method to rewind time
I can't replace all these old friends of mine
Primed defenses holding back the weight as we show our best
I want to see all of your ugliness
Hedonistic in this interlude history repeats
A short reprieve from safety in our schemes
Why did I leave for shallow water, I can't believe
I pissed away so many years saying life's okay
Nobody new knows me like all of these people do back east
Something eerie in my sister's room where I stay for now
Maybe it's me, the selfhood I haven't found
Viscious cycles keep me by myself wanting someone else to ease my pain
Think that I can do the same
Why did I leave for shallow water, I can't believe
I pissed away so many years saying life's okay
Nobody new knows me like all of these people do back east
Back east
Why do I love this album? I really think Genevieve Artadi is an under-appreciated genius of a songwriter. Also, the painstaking layering of the vocals is truly impressive. And the performances of the other musicians are amazing, too. I guess I love everything about this album, pretty much. (Other than maybe it makes me feel bad as a musician.) danwebbhoward
Following the works of Pedro Martins brought me here and to quite the overwhelm. The musicianship on this alongside Artadi's dream world of art pop songwriting, vocals, and key arrangements is truly magical and euphoric, from the most uplifting moments like on Visionary to the valleys of 'Change Stays'. Truly an AOTY of 2023 and a beautiful record. Infernal_Flowers
